About The Artist: Lily Dal Cin

About Me

I am a twenty two year old artist from Montreal, Quebec. My home base since 2012 has been North Carolina. Currently I am working in Charlotte but from the fall of 2021 to the spring of 2025, I lived in Raleigh to study Art and Design at North Carolina State University. My time there gave me the opportunity to develop my craft, explore the many branches of design and ultimately commit to a career as a fine artist and business owner.
The summer after graduation is when Lily Dal Cin Fine Art was born. My two mediums of choice are drawing and oil painting. I specialize in pet portrait paintings and pen sketches of objects, places and animals.
For as long as I can remember animals have been apart of my life. Whether it was dogs and cats at home, horses, cows, and donkeys at the farm or encounters with wild species while traveling I have always wanted to have them around me. This is what has inspired me in the studio and led me to make them my focus as an artist. I understand better than most why my clients want artwork of their pets. My goal is not only to create beautiful paintings of them but to convey their personalities.
While painting had always been on my radar, my love for it grew exponentially my sophomore year of university when I traveled to Florence, Italy to study at the Accademia Italiana. On a daily basis I was surrounded by beautiful art in the city and talented artists in my classes. Following that experience, I felt inspired to perfect my craft and find my own style. Years of experimentation later, I can say that my art falls into the category of realism but with each piece I am pushing my use of color, texture and light to bring my subjects to life.
If you follow along with my social media, you know about the famed 'Sketch of the Day.' This began because I wanted to practice drawing and simultaneously share more on social media. These ballpoint pen sketches are hand drawn in my sketchbook and inspired by objects, animals and places that I have photographed in my lifetime. Overtime, these sketches have transformed into patterns, prints and product. I even offer custom sketches to my clients. They are the perfect gift or addition to any gallery wall.
Please reach out if you would like a custom painting or sketch. I would love to create one for you. Thank you for supporting me.
